The 13-year-old boy who is was arrested in connection with the July 29 break-in and burglary at Cajun Gun and Tackle, is accused of stealing another car from a New Iberia dealership.

The juvenile, whose name is not being released because of his age, was released to the custody of relatives due to injuries he sustained during incident at Cajun Gun and Tackle on Admiral Doyle Drive. He is one of two suspects in the theft of a vehicle over the weekend, Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Wendall Raborn said.

Before 5 a.m. Sunday, the 13-year-old and another 12-year-old boy, both from New Iberia, broke into a car dealership on Main Street and stole a vehicle by driving it through the fence, Raborn said.

Raborn said soon after the theft, a Louisiana State Police trooper saw the vehicle leaving a business on Admiral Doyle Drive and attempted to stop it. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle crashed on Hopkins Street and the 13-year-old driver was apprehended.

“The second juvenile was later taken into custody at his residence,” Raborn said.

Both suspects are being held in a juvenile detention facility, each charged with two counts of burglary, one count of criminal damage to property and one count of unauthorized use of a movable.

Sunday’s arrest comes just less than two weeks after July 29’s Cajun Gun and Tackle robbery, where a number of firearms were stolen after perpetrators drove an SUV through the business’ back door.

BUT!! This child should be taken away from the "bad influence", and made a ward of the state! Prefferably in a Psych hospital or jail! Keep him locked up until he is NO longer a threat to the citizens of IP.
He should NOT be summarily executed for B&E OR theft!

" The idea of a "juvi jail" is nice in theory, but how many parents would look at it like babysitting courtesy of the tax payers. If these parents aren't paying enough attention to their children while they are committing these crimes, what makes us think that they'd care that their child was locked up for a weekend?

solution: Hold their parents accountable for the crimes of their children! It would ultimately put the responsibility of proper child rearing on the parent (which is where it should be anyhow). "

O my god what next. Lock this kid up before he kills my family or better yet one of your family members. I believe in giving second chances and he has already had his. Mr. Ackal you need to take action. "

Reward good, discipline bad. I was more scared of what my dad would do than the police. Bad kids are not worried or scared, they have no liability. Society doesn’t discipline properly. If my kids steal, they better hope the police keep them in jail till I cool down. Parents should be responsible for their children until death. Don't want the responsibility don't have children. "

After all we all understand it's the parent's fault for not controlling their children. Kids aren't bad. So if you take them in things should be cool. Just think of how proud you could make your friends and community. It really would be noble of you. BIG BROTHER TAKING A STAND TO FIGHT JUVENILE CRIME. Great headline. "

I think you all know there are children that will do bad things that the parents know nothing about until they are caught. I'd venture to say 50% of you writers probably fit that description when you were kids. We all just have to face it, some kids are just bad. Some are raising themselves with minimal guidance. A lot of guardians and parents are AWOL from their duties. "

My definition of "broken home" is when a couple are married, have children, then divorce. A single parent home is not necessiarly a broken home. If one of the parents are only present for the conception, then the kid doesnt come from a broken home... just my opinion. "

Juveniles would get 6 months of weekends. I wish our judges could do that. Hit the kids where it hurts, on their free time. "

But he thinks nothing is going to happen to him, he steals car rams building, steals gun, flees from cops and is released to parents..hmmm no wonder why he did it again nothing happened to him last time, juveniles dont think of the long run(court date) just about what happens at that moment. I also agree where are the parents of these children. I think they should be held accountable for their son. "

If the gaurdian(s) are on welfare, with hold it! If they are working class, garnish their wages!
