Iberia knocked out of state Senior League tournament LAKE CHARLES -- Amite scored three runs in the top of the 8th inning and held off a late rally to beat the Iberia Parish All-Stars 9-7 Monday, knocking Iberia Parish out of the Little League State Senior League (ages 15-16) Tournament. After six scoreless innings, Amite scored six runs in the fifth inning only to see Iberia tie the game with six runs in the bottom of the seventh. Amite added three runs in the 8th to pull ahead 9-6. Iberia Parish got a home run from Reginald Charles in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 9-7 but couldn’t get any closer. Iberia Parish had eight hits and three errors in the game while Amite had 11 hits and three errors. Perry Warner picked up the win for Amite, going six innings and striking out four while walking two. Donald Gorden pitched two innings for Amite. Christian Viator was the unlucky loser for Iberia Parish. He went five innings and had five strikeouts and two walks. Tyler Businelle also pitched two innings for Iberia Parish. Charles finished with two hits, Christian Viator had two doubles and Brody Romero had a double and single for Iberia Parish. |
