Built by Ferrara Fire Apparatus Inc. of Holden, near Baton Rouge, the truck has a 2007 International chasse and was purchased by the Chitimacha Fire Department with a $274,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Fire Chief Rickey Cook described the truck as “state of the art.” It is the fire department’s first new pumper truck since 1997. It was received June 18 and already has been used in several emergency situations.
