One of the events was a baby food (prunes) eating contest, after which contestants raced to the trash cans to spit out the taste almost as fast as they raced down the gym floor, lining up behind water fountains after the event was over.
Brianna Jackson and Chelcee Davis, both 11, said in unison that the prunes were “nasty.”

“It was nasty,” Tatelyn Galentine, age 9, said. “Like something chemical.”
More popular Olympic events were the hula hoop race, in which children linked hands and passed a hula hoop down their team’s line and back.
“It’s good exercise,” said Marline Taylor, 11.
Then there was the scooter race, in which children sat on scooters and scooted to the end of the gym and back to their teams.
“I liked riding on the scooters because you get to go backwards,” said Ebony Mahone, 6.
Tyrrance Antoine, 10, thought the scooters were hard to stay on.
But Kieasha Lewis, 11, said she liked “how fast we got to go and how we could control (the scooter) on our own.”
Johnlynn Casares, 8, said she liked racing to the end of the gym and back while jumping rope best.
Unit Director Anesha Burgess said other events included popcorn eating with minimal mess, eating a cracker and blowing a whistle afterwards and human knots.
“They really enjoyed it,” she said. “We played it by ear.”
Third place was the blue team, tied for second were the red team and the orange team, and in first place was the green team. Placing teams will get prizes donated by Dollar General and every child will receive a certificate, said Burgess.
