JEANERETTE — A Celebration of Life for Horace Green Sr., 74, will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church, 2414 Fourth St., Jeanerette, with Rev. Terry L. Joseph officiating. Mr. Green will be laid to rest in St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 7 a.m. until the time of services.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Green departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Consolata Nursing Home at 4:45 p.m.

He was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a former member of the Evergreen Lodge No. 31 Free and Accepted Masons.

He leaves in God’s care four sons, Horace Green Jr. and Wilbert Green, both of Jeanerette, Allen Green (Linda) of Port Arthur, Texas, and Minister Michael Green (Virginia) of Fredrick, Okla.; three daughters, Louise G. Tillman (Lee Royal), Flora G. Francis and Patricia Green, all of Jeanerette; one daughter-in-law, Jacqueline C. Green of New Iberia, one brother, Wilbert Green of Port Arthur, Texas; three sisters, Mae Francis Brown of Port Arthur, Texas, Flora Mae Ireland (Murphy Sr.) of Franklin and Clara Lewis of Jeanerette; 33 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

He joins in glory his wife, Myrtle August Green; parents, Louise Green and Melvin Boutte; one daughter Shirley G. Fanning; three sons James Green, Howard Green and Wilfred Green; one brother Allen Leon Green; and one sister Menola Thomas.

Active pallbearers are Wayne Green, Rene Green, Shedrick Green, Ernest Green, Ronzine Green and JaMarkus Green.

Honorary pallbearers are Horace Green Jr., Allen Green, Wilbert Green, Minister Michael Green, Murphy Ireland Sr. and Lee Royal Tillman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home, New Iberia, La.
