BREAUX BRIDGE — Funeral services will be held for Elta Mae Dugas Lewis, the former Elta Mae Dugas, 72, Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge with the Rev. Fallen officiating. A rite of committal will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home with a rosary recited at 8:30 a.m.

A resident of New Iberia, Ms. Lewis passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Meadow Brook Specialty Hospital in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories one son, Joseph Noel of New Iberia; one daughter Barbara Dennis (Kurt) of Breaux Bridge; two brothers Rodney Dugas (Ann) of Moniham, Texas and Preston Dugas of New Iberia; two sisters Mary Lucille Dugas of Breaux Bridge and Mary Elvena Miller of St. Martinville; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to the ICU staff at Lafayette General Medical Center and Meadowbrook Specialty Hospital in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine Lewis; parents Valsin and Bertine Gloud Dugas; daughter Hilda Bryant; two sisters Mary Leona Dugas and Mary Cecelia Williams; and three brothers, Hilson Dugas, Murphy Dugas and Leonard Dugas.

Active pallbearers are Steven Francis, Frank Francis Jr., Albert Francis, Alfred Beals Jr., Alvin Beals and Gabriel Beals.

Honorary pallbearers are Jerome Bryant, Carrol Dugas, Kurt Dennis, James Johnson, Joseph Noel, Jr., Courtney Clarkston, Terry Livingston and Norbert Celestine.
