ORANGE, Texas — Funeral services were held for Mr. Joseph "Popeet" Jacobs, Jr. on July 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Orange, Texas.

Interment was in Manolia Cemetery in Orange, Texas.

A native of Belle Place, LA, and resident of Orange, Texas, Mr. Jacobs passed on July 19, 2008.

He is survived by one brother, Earl Jacobs of New Iberia; two sons, Gerald (Flora) Jacobs of Dallas; Cedric (Kathy) Mouton of Orange, Texas; three daughters, Gloria (Gerald) Antoine of Orange, Texas; Anita (Keith) Crain of Houston, Texas and Hazel Jacobs of Port Arthur, Texas; six foster sons; James (Norma) Broussard, Alex Morris, Melvin Coleman, Greg Ogbolu, Henry Mitchell (deceased) and Ernest Simon Jr.; a foster daughter, George Ella Owens; four godchildren, Shanon Moore, Deanie Jenkins, Jarvis Broussard, Kennon Broussard; 13 grand children, 40 great grand children, 3 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Broussard Jacobs; two sons, Joseph Jacobs, III and Arthur Jacobs; his parents, Joseph Jacobs Sr. and Rosa Johnson Jacobs; four sisters, Maude Mitchell, Audrey Augustine, Ada Thompson and Mamie Brashear; five brothers, Raymond Jacobs, Albert Small, Henry Jacobs, Percy Jacobs and Allen Jacobs.

Services were entrusted to Sparrow Funeral Home, Orange, Texas.
