New Iberia needs a real RADIO station

I sure hope somebody starts a new radio station here. Years ago we had three, Knir, Kane and Kdea. Now only one(Kane) and it is horrible . The owners are locked in some Swamp Fox fog that few care to tune  in to. The owners are in politics and that stinks also. The only talk show daily is slanted , anti Bush etc.  The host has no common families values with people from Louisiana ,I think he is from  the Chicago area. We need businessmen to step up to the plate and  open a station that is listerner friendly , one that lets all people speak  out not just a few cronies every day. Hope someone out there is hearing our plea.  Swamp Fox music is ok but not 24 hours a day . That is one of the many reasons  Kane has no people listening to them. Lee K is about the only decent DJ that they have  at the station. Time to clean house.   T Marie , waiting to hear POP music again.

That is what I always do when Boggs comes on with his talk show. I hate talk shows so I switch to another channel at 10'oclock that plays Louisiana Music. And Lee K does a great job of picking Louisiana Music and supporting those artists. "

" The music on KANE is one of the few things left in New Iberia that demonstrates pride and appreciation of our culture and our heritage. These people or things that we should be proud of. If we do not like the music, we do not like the culture and maybe we have not learned enough about the music and the culture which is what creates shallowness. People from all over The United States and Europe travel to South Louisiana because the appreciate our culture and music. KANE is playing home grown music. "

Have you read some of the other post in this forum? If not, I would suggest you do and you will see for yourself what some do on this forum, including myself. Good conversing with you. I always enjoy an intelligent conversation with people on the forum. Have a Great Day! "

Thanks for your reply. I certainly apologize if I came off as being rude. I did not intend to be rude. No, not all pop music is trashy and in fact I like alot of it. When I was speaking of trash music I hope you will know what music I am referring to. I understand that maybe we could use another radio station to suite others. But, people have their opinions. I do feel there was more behind this than one would know. Good day, thanks. "

I agree with you but i think you were being a little bit rude. Pop music is not trashy just because you dont like it ever though you are entitled to your own opinion. She could have went to the station but what she is trying to say is that we need a new radio station. She is entitled to her opinion just like you are so stop being so imature. "

No political slanted jabs or favoritism or mean/spirited attitudes or mood swings needed here. Just serious radio public service announcments. "

Think about it, KANE is the oldest radio station in New Iberia and after over 50 years, they are still standing due to community support. The other 3 have abandoned New Iberia. Also I ran into a poll that states, KANE is one of the most listened to radio stations on the internet in the entire country. Next time there is a weather emergency, tune in to another radio station and see if you get local information and coverage. KANE is New Iberia's solid gold. "

The type of music they play is not suitable for your ears. There are many stations you can listen to. I agree with Jeff, you should have taken your complaint to the radio station instead the forum. I have always found them to be open for comments or complaints. You stated Lee K. is the only decent DJ they have. That is a bit hypocritcal. Lee K. is the DJ that is playing the music you are complaining about. Try another radio station and listen to the trash music. "

The talk show, Teche Matters, has really changed Iberia Parish for the better. It helped us get rid of corrupt politicians and addresses many of the local problems. Anyone can call in and express an opinion. "

Listen to something from bigger minds and broader concepts. And NO swamp pop. Try FM. If you are listening to only KANE, honey, you are deserving of what your media outlet ignorance brings you. "
