ST. MARTINVILLE — Funeral services for Evelyn Rose “Puna” Drake, 50, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Union Baptist Church in St. Martinville with the Rev. Joel Greene Sr. officiating.

Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery on Church Street in St. Martinville.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

A native and resident of St. Martinville, Puna died at 3:55 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the youth choir and former junior usher.

She is survived by her former husband, Bennett Perrio of St. Martinville; mother, Lizzie Voorhies Drake of St. Martinville; three sons Kawaski P. Drake of St. Martinville, who was adopted and reared by her parents, and Clarence and Brandon Perrio, both of St. Martinville; two daughters Roshanda Perrio and Brandi Perrio, both of Breaux Bridge; three brothers Willis Drake Jr., Kenneth Drake and Kawaski P. Drake, all of St. Martinville; three sisters Delores Menard, Rose Marie Roberts (Walter Jr.) and Darlene Drake, all of St. Martinville; godchild Erica Marie Roberts; godmother Rose Locks; godfather Allen Joiner; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts, other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Drake Sr.; two brothers Nelson Drake Sr. and Allen Drake; one sister Mary Ann Drake; maternal grandparents, Allen Voorhies Sr. and Alberta Roberta Voorhies; and paternal grandparents, Lawrence Drake Sr. and Lillian Gardner.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

A special thanks to the staff at Lafayette General Medical Center ICU South, Dr. Wade and other attending physicians and all nurses and a special thanks to Nurse Darcie, who extended exceptional care to our loved one during her illness.
