Eunice, Heymann eliminated from sub-regional The Eunice Oilers and Heymann Chiefs were eliminated from the American Legion Sub-regional Tournament at Acadian Park on Saturday, while Abbeville and Sam Houston advanced to games today. Sam Houston 11, Heymann 5 Garret Logan singled and homered and scored three runs for Sam Houston in Saturday’s early game. Phillip Minou singled and doubled and scored two runs, Blake Felts had an RBI double and scored a run and Dillon Johnson hit a three-run double for the Broncos. Grant Cox went nine innings for the win, allowing five runs on seven hits. Hunter Bellot allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings in taking the loss. Leading hitters for the Heymann Chiefs were Ridge Ridgedell, Brad Landry and Zack Leblanc, each with a double and a run scored. Sam Houston faces Delhomme loser at 1 p.m. today in an elimination game. Abbeville 13, Eunice 1, 7 innings Trey Broussard and Tony Frederick each homered and singled to power Abbeville to a seven-inning, 10-run-rule win over Eunice in the second game Saturday. Jacob Duhon had a single and scored two runs and Will Armstrong also scored twice for the 29ers, who scored five runs in the second inning and seven in the fourth. Ethan Hebert went five innings for the win, allowing one run on three hits. Anthony Frederick pitched two innings in relief. Brett Baldwin gave up six runs in 3 1/3 innings to take the loss. Kaleb Deshotel homered, Casey Charlie doubled and Zack Person and Kendall Sam each single for the Oilers. Abbeville plays New Iberia at 7 p.m. today. |
