Michael Miller, 36, entered his plea Tuesday in the 16th Judicial District Court to one count each of first-degree murder, sexual battery, child molestation and to 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
Miller was arrested following the Dec. 7 death of his son Dylan Louviere. An autopsy showed Louviere died from repeated blows to the head, according to a report from Iberia Parish Coroner Dr. James Falterman. Miller told sheriff’s office investigators taht he had fallen on his son while hanging Christmas ornaments. A search of his home resulted in the discovery of child pornography on his computer.

“We hope to have him examined between now and then, hopefully in September, to determine if there are any mental health issues involved,” Colwart said.
“A status conference will be held for that purpose and a trial date will be determined at that time.”
Colwart added he expects the trial to begin sometime next year. The first-degree murder charge his client is facing concerns Colwart the most.
“At this point, he is eligible for the death penalty for that,” Colwart said.
Iberia District Attorney Phil Haney said the death penalty would be a “justifiable” penalty in this case. “At this point the death penalty is a possibility,” Haney said.
