A Broussard man has been charged with one count of aggravated rape and one count of molestation of a juvenile. His bond was set at $100,000 Monday morning by Judge Gerard Wattigny.

Kirk Richard, 42, of 213 Country Run in Broussard, faces charges of aggravated rape and molestation of two juveniles over a three-year period.  The victims are one male and one female, ages 4 and 7, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said Monday. The sheriff’s office said the alleged crimes occurred in Iberia Parish.

IPSO public information officer Deputy Wendell Raborn said investigators with the Juvenile Division of the sheriff’s office arrested Richard, formerly of New Iberia, Friday when he reported for depositions at a local lawyer’s office. Additional details were not released.

“When you have a case involving juveniles, things are held close to the chest,” Raborn said. “No more information is available at this time.”

Richard was held at the Iberia Parish Jail over the weekend and was released Monday afternoon after posting bond.

" In some circumstances you may be right.
But what you are forgetting is that we live in a 3rd world "banana republic" of a town that has so many crooked politicians and city officials we would think we hit the lottery if we found an honest one!
If you know Kirk & his ex-wife Kim you would have no doubt in your mind that he is innocent... "

" Everytime these guys get accused they claim someone made it up or put it in their heads. the truth is that children who are coached can be easily exposed. The cops and DA know how to evaluate this. Trust the sytstem. If he did this and there's a great chance that he did, he deserves life in angola. "

" Did you know that in the USA there are over 4000 men that are falsely accused and out of 4000 only 420 are actually convicted. So before you go accusing the innocent get your facts before you go spitting damaging words about an innocent man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

" I was in the courthouse the other day and overheard a conversation that the wife is related to a "very politically connected" Parish Councilman.
I sure hope an innocent man is not being persecuted for something he did not do. Retribution... "

" You know, kids of this age (4 & 7) can be made to believe, and "recall" anything if they are questioned and drilled enough. I think a psych evaluation should have to be done on the ex-wife before this proceeds any further. You never know what some people will do when they're faced with a situation that they dont' want (like a divorce and visitation rights). Don't condemn this man yet. I bet if evaluations are done, she may be the one to lose custody. "

" You guys don't even know this guy. He is honest, caring, and church-going. He is going through a nasty divorce and this is his ex-wife's way of getting back at him. He did not do this. Why do you think they can only come up with one count of each charge. Over three years, two counts! It's funny that over three years they can only come up with 2 charges, coincidentally one for each of his kids and both "abuses" happen at the same time. Probably not. Look at-the-ex-wife.-You'd-be-surprised-what-you-learn-about-her. "

" If this did happen, yes punish the guilty, but let's not judge before the trial and everything comes out. This is all coming about after an ugly divorce. Did he really do this? Has the mother and her family questioned these children in ways so often that now the children tell them what they what to hear? Is this a way for the ex-wife to "get back" at him? Think about it. "

" If the man is guilty, he will plead guilty and get out in 2 yrs. My ex severely molested and raped our daughter and only had to spend 2 yrs. I think anyone guilty of these crimes should get the max. Why not bring back public punishment (i.e. stoning)? "

" It's a shame when a criminal with these charges can't get a higher bond than just $100,000 for aggrevated rape and molestation. I wonder how the kids feel about him getting out of jail.? It should be high enough that he can't post bail!!! "

" I think that the bond set for that "Sick-O" was way to low. Think about it PEOPLE, he was doing this for how long? Not to mention, how many others has he done this to?
What a Sick-O. If I were a Judge, it would be atleast 1 million.
Poor babies that had to go through that torture. "
