Family and friends gathered Thursday and a rosary was prayed. Visitation will continue today from until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Broussard Cemetery.
A native of New Iberia, Mr. Bourgeois was a carpenter and mechanic, having worked for International Salt Company, Herpeche Construction, Carbo Ceramics and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed horse racing, woodworking, and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernice Peter and May Broussard Bourgeois; sisters, Armine Peltier, Verline Bourgeois and Janelle Bourgeois.
Pallbearers will be Allen Bourgeois Jr., Cody Thomas, Ross Duhon, Larry Cleveland Jr. Perry Bourgeois Jr., and Walter Peltier II.
Honorary pallbearers include Brady Bourgeois, Perry Bourgeois Sr., Michael Thomas, Daniel Duhon, Alex Duhon, Scott Duhon, Walter Peltier Sr., and Corporal Michael Desormeaux Jr.
