Murders and crime in our city

This is a really scary time in our city, I feel like I am living in New Orleans not New Iberia.  The most recent murder was committed right down the road from my home and he was caught not far from my home.  The sad thing is that the murderer was an illegal immigrant, if the government would be doing their job then perhaps Dennis would still be alive.  And what is the sheriff's department doing to find Kern's killer?  Its scary and I don't like leaving home or letting my teenagers leave home because I don't know if they will make it home or not.  When will law and order be restored to our quiet community?

" What can we do here? People around town know who is hiring the (pc corrected) "undocumented" aliens. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with them!! AND let them know why! When they loose money, they will change (not an Obama endorsement, ha,ha). Why are their prices still so high when they are paying less for workers? Peaceful revolution is in order! Stop handing over your hard earned cash to "traitors" who hire the invading horde! Comprende, oops, sorry, do you understand? "

" The illegal (sorry, undocumented) alien problem is here to stay! The politicians who create "cities of refuge" for them are to blame! Also, our federal government gets the biggest blame! NOT A ONE of them will vote to ENFORCE our immigration laws, let alone our sovereign border. They are AFRAID of losing in the next election! In my HUMBLE opinion, I believe they are ALL wearing cotton lined panties in Washington D.C. I think that came from the "Emasculation Proclamation" [HA,HA,HA]! "

" You ask some very good questions, "to tell the truth." I think we'd all like to know the answers to your questions. But to believe your safety is more jeopardized now than four years ago isn't so. There are some extremely hard working young men and women in the streets protecting the citizens of New Iberia. Who can say why the underbelly of New Iberia is doing what they have been doing. Perhaps it's the swinging door justice system. They just aren't afraid to commit unthinkable crimes. It's not because of the sheriff's office. "

The deputies you say that let the criminals take over New Iberia. You really are confused sir/madam. Why would you want the pitiful deputies that Sid has to train any of Mr. Ackal's supposed new deputies? Get it straight, if they are lacking then they should not train anyone else to be lacking. Truth be known they are excellent and New Iberia has always been a criminal haven, correct sir/madam? "

" Idea: Call your Senators and Representatives! Ask them to support the following: Bonding Scale minimums for all offenses, if the criminal can't pay bond, then they must wear an ankle bracelet through a state monitoring system, paid for by the criminals, eliminates jailing problems. Ankle bracelets through private organizations run about $425.00 per month. Plus accused should have to finish school, and be employed or stay home! Totally fair for all offenses! "

I've witnessed this happen twice. They couldn't or wouldn't get the big fish so to make the report go away they charge the one doing the reporting with the crime. They don't want to clamp down on the criminals. Why would they be like that? The only thing I can think is that there is some kick back of some kind going on. Report a crime, you do the time. "

" Well Sta the only way to get the illegal or undocumented aliens to go back home it seems is to arrest big business owners and farmers. They are the ones hiring them. Not all of big business and farmers of course, but enough to cause the massive influx of illegals into this country. The problem is so enormous our government would rather not deal with it so they are here to stay. The problem is if one of these people commit a crime like murder they can disappear we don't know who they are. "

" Can this monster called New Iberia be tamed? It certainly has become widly known as the wild wild West. July 1st there will be a new high sheriff. New badges will shine in the sun and street lights. New faces with different attitudes about how to deal with New Iberia's derelicts. The next four years will be an exciting time for the public and criminals alike. There will be no magic wand just good ole fashioned law enforcement. You do the crime you do the hard time. The good stuff. BOOKEM DANO! "

A woman overdozed and rushed to Dauterieve Hospital and drugs found on her person, the hospital reported this to Iberia Parish Sheriff. They did not charge her with possesion of illegal drugs. I had her child and needed more clothes for him so I went to her home to get the clothes, we found crack pipes, other peoples prescription drugs, stolen property and yes I did report it to the sheriff department did they do anything of course not. They had Kern Gaudet's murderer in jail for pistol whipping someone with the gun they shot Kern continued "

Especially when people are lie about who is living with them and taking advantage of government programs, sure have seen this to many times to count over several years. Time for all free and assisted housing programs to go! Work to pay the rent or move into a tent! To many freebies equals top crime rate! "

Believe it or not bacmanilla was a very nice place. evangeline circle was a very nice place. Alot of places WERE nice. but if it don't cost you why should you care. Put these people to work instead of give give give. Maybe they will appreciate something if they work for it. I'm not saying its right but I see why people get mad at the gov and do bad things. "

They go into jail for about 72 hours, then they are released. That's the other problem; the swinging door on our prison system. Mayor? What Mayor? She's all talk. The right thing to do, is get our city police force back. A force we can control. "

Those are your up and coming robbers, murderes, rapists & drug dealers. Where are the parents? If you work, please enroll your children in a summer camp program or put them in the care of a trusted adult so that they aren't walking the streets terrorizing people. Give them a chance to do something constructive with their time. "

My point is that as the mix of poor, middle class, and above moves down the scale past the tipping point, you get Detroit. We are at that tipping point. It is not just that we have become attractive to the poor, it’s that we are no longer attractive to the middle class and above. "

New Iberia has become the THE place for the lower and under classes. 90% of all the new construction in town is what is taking the place of "The Projects". Ride around see for yourself. Meanwhile the most industrious who want some amenities for a better lifestyle are told we can't afford it, and have given up and left for Lafayette and points beyond. Until we get off the lowest common denominator attitude, no change possible. "
