Dorothy N. Sadler

Dorothy “Dot” Nereaux Sadler, 93, peacefully passed away on May 27, 2008 at St. Simeon’s Episcopal Home in Tulsa, Okla.

A rosary service will be at 6 p.m. today at the Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Moskogee, Okla. and a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Muskogee with the Rev. Bryan Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

Born on March 23, 1915 in New Iberia to Olita Derouen Nereaux and Ursin Nereaux, Sadler spent her youth in New Iberia, graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and taught first grade for four years. She married the love of her life, Frank Kenneth Sadler in 1940 and they lived in New Iberia until he entered the service during World War II.

In 1945 they moved to her husband’s hometown, Muskogee and lived happily there together until her husband’s death in 1990. She moved into the Dogwood Creek Assisted Living Center in Muskogee until 2005 when she moved to St. Simeon’s.

She was well known for her fabulous cooking skills, especially Cajun food and many a great meal was served to her family and friends over the years. She also enjoyed her weekly bridge group, needlepoint and knitting.

Sadler was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, served as a volunteer at Muskogee General Hospital and was a member of the Muskogee Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her only sibling, brother Marlin Nereaux of New Iberia. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Sadler of Tulsa, Libby Steakley and her husband Steve of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Lauren Steakley and her husband William of New York City; great-granddaughters Elizabeth Pruellage and Emma Pruellage of New York City; sisters-in-law Alberta Nereaux of New Iberia and Betty Eleanor Ramage-Truitt of Moskogee and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed.
