A home at 901 Willow St. in Franklin was damaged by fire Thursday morning.

Franklin Fire Chief Chuck Bourgeois said the fire seemed to have originated in a middle room of the home that looked as though it were a combination living room and dining room.

Bourgeois said when firefighters first responded, a senior citizen was thought to be in the home.

A search was conducted while the fire was being contained and no one was found in the home.

It was learned later that the occupant was not a home at the time of the blaze.

Bourgeois said fire damage was limited to the middle room and the surrounding area.

Other parts of the home sustained heavy smoke damage.

The chief said a little amount of water was used and the fire was under control in less than 10 minutes after their arrival.

Units from Franklin Fire Department were assisted by Baldwin Fire Department, Centerville Fire Depart-ment, Chitimicha Fire Department and the Franklin Police Department.

No other details were available as the fire is still being investigated.
