BELLE PLACE — Funeral services will be held for Henry C. Armstead Jr., 71, at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Belle United Church of Christ with the Rev. Leafier Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service at the church.

A native of Belle Place and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Armstead died Sunday May 25, 2008, at 10:10 a.m. at Dauterive Hospital.

Mr. Armstead was a member of Belle United Church of Christ, a graduate of Grambling State University as well as an educator in the Iberia Parish school system for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie J. Armstead, of New Iberia; mother, Italy S. Armstead, of Belle Place; son Neil Armstead of New Iberia; sister Vera A. Bernard of Belle Place; brothers Lionel Armstead Sr. and Lloyd Armstead Sr. of Belle Place; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry C. Armstead Sr.; and sister Joyce Marie Armstead.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Armstead, Lloyd Armstead Jr., Thaylen Armstead, Ryan Francis, Shawn Veric Conner Sr. and Kenneth Derouen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Armstead Sr., Lionel Armstead Sr., Neil Armstead, Don Vital, Huey Nora and Russell Anderson.
