Louis A. Landry

Louis A. Landry, 87, a native of Lake Charles and a resident of New Iberia, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 5:55 p.m. at University Medical Center in Lafayette, LA.

The service will take place at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Francis Davis officiating. Interment will take place at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery in Belle Place, LA.

Visitation will be on Tuesday at 7 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Landry served in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran and a musician.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Jefferson Landry of New Iberia; two sisters, Shirley Metcalf and Aline McDowell, both of Los Angeles, CA; three sisters-in-law, Grace Landry of Los Angeles, CA, Melva Barabin of Houston, TX and Pecola Volter of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Kimberly, Christi, Kellen, Brandon and Denzel Armstrong; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Landry was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin Landry and Florence Trunage Landry; three brothers, Floyd, Walter and Bobby Erwin Landry; three sisters, Myrtle Sneed, Evelyn Stivens and Elouise Leonard; one step-daughter, Inez Armstrong; and two step-sons, Kenneth Jefferson and Dennis Jefferson.

Pallbearers are Jerry Mitchell, Todd Lasalle, Reasons Volter, Denzel Armstrong, Nathaniel “Ollie” Toby and Patrick Guidry. Honorary Pallbearers are Maclyn Bastian, Terrell Volter, Robert Barabin, Jr., Therron Miller, Kellen Armstrong and Brandon Armstrong.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia.
