Response to Mr. Wyche

Published/Last Modified on Sunday, May 11, 2008 6:08 AM CDT

In response to Mr. Wyche’s letter in the open forum April 23, 2008, Mr. Wyche opined that should any Democrat reach the presidency, we would lose the war in Iraq, get taxed to death and thus find our cost of living rising on an ever increasing scale.

Where has Mr. Wyche been for the last eight years? I think that someone should remind Mr. Wyche that the Republicans are the ones in office and not the Democrats. On the war part, the Republicans lost the Vietnam war so why can’t the Democrats lose the Iraq War? We have the best military in the world. This military is run by our government. Our government does not have a job, so I would like Mr. Wyche to tell the people “where does the government get its money to run this mighty military”? On the high cost of living, in The Daily Iberian Sunday, April 27 the headlines read, Experts Predict (opine) $4 gas. In The Daily Iberian May 2, 2008, the headlines read, Food prices rising. In January the price of a dozen eggs was 89 cents, today $1.65. In January the price of cooking oil was $5 a gallon, today $11. We are paying the price of a house for a vehicle and almost $4 a gallon for gas to run your vehicle. There is one thing that Mr. Wyche and I agree on. That is come November the people will remember who to vote for. I am a World War II veteran and a proud Democrat.

" Thank you Mr. Richard. I, like may others, am quite tired of Jim Wyche's blowhard opinions. When it comes to Jim Wyche (being the Christian man that he is), perhaps he'd be better off in reading this passage from the book of Matthew 7, 1-3: "Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you make, you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get."

" Great response Mr. Richard. I don't think Mr. Wyche has ever had to work for a living like most people (spoon fed) all of his life. Whether we are democrat or republican is not the total issue, but partisan politics certainly doesn't help this country. We must continue to support our troops . God bless them and what they stand for. Freedom for all. "
