Bunk Fest 2008 hits musical notes in play The Bunk Johnson Jazz, Arts & Heritage Festival presented a program on Thursday night at the Sliman Theater for the Performing Arts that highlighted poetry and a stage production. The Teche Theater Players presented “Ain’t Misbehavin’ — The Music of Fats Waller” with singing and dancing that had toes tapping on the feet of audience members. Bunk Fest events continue with A Drob/Polk Jazz Lecture scheduled at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Iberia Parish Library, St. Peter branch. This year’s festival activities culminate with a Jazz Brunch/Jazz Mass Service and Pilgrimage to Bunk Johnson’s Gravesite, complete with a second line return to the church. The Brunch and Mass are scheduled to be held May 25. |
