JEANERETTE— Funeral services will be held for Gloria Harding, 67, the former Gloria Gable, at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Church of God in Christ in Jeanerette with the Rev. James Proctor officiating. Entombment will follow in the Beau Pre Mausoleum.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of service at the church.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Harding died Friday, May 2, 2008 at 2 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Mother Harding was a member par excellent at First Church of God in Christ and served faithfully as the Director of Children Ministry, Director of the Food-net Program, Coordinator of the After School Tutorial Program, The Mothers’ Board, Ministers and Deacons Wifes Circle and the Business and Professional Women Fellowship.  In addition Mother Harding served as the Franklin District Mission President for twenty-three years and worked very closely with District Missionary Ezora Proctor in the Women Department.  In the community she served as a member of the Jeanerette Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  She was also the recipient of many awards from civic, religious and social organizations. She was a graduate of Boley High School, Grambling State University in Grambling and Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge. She taught in the public schools of Iberia Parish, in the city of Jeanerette and retired after giving of herself to the students of Jeanerette for thirty-three years.

She is survived by her husband, William Harding of Jeanerette; sisters, Claudell G. Johnson of Jeanerette and Patricia W. (Tyrone P.) Cormier of Lafayette and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and her First Church of God In Christ family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan Gable and Lucinda J. Gable.

Pallbearers will be Van Nathan Johnson, Clyde Johnson, Darrel Porter, Eric Lancelin, Jasal Bolden and Everett Suggs.

Honorary pallbearers will be The First COGIC, Jeanerette-Deacons and Men’s Fellowship, Franklin District-COGIC, Louis Harding, Rodney Monette, Charles Johnson Jr., Charles Linzer, Dan Dre Spiller and Daedrick Johnson.
