Allen Joseph Jones Jr.

ST. MARTINVILLE — Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Allen Joseph “Badee” Jones Jr., 73, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with the Rev. Tarsisius Puling officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 am.

A native and resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Jones died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Jones was employed at Waukesha Pearce for twenty two years and then employed with IEW Compression where he retired after sixteen years. He was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council, was an altar server for funerals and also served as an usher. He also assisted his wife with cooking and delivering food for the visiting priests from India. He was also a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, Chapter 84 of St. Martinville.

Mr. Jones loved watching western movies and wrestling, gardening and working around the house. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Mason Jones of St. Martinville; his children, Alvin Jones, Wilton Jones, Wilford Jones, Terry Jones, Denise Jones and Tyrone Jones all of St. Martinville and Robbie Jones of Houston; three step children, Roland Jones, Roylin Jones Landry and Harris Jones all of St. Martinville; his adopted children, Brian Jones and Monique Jones both of St. Martinville; three brothers, Warrence Jones and his wife, Eula, Richard Jones and his wife, Agnes, all of St. Martinville and Peter Jones and his wife, Lorena, of Houston; four sisters, Marybelle Burns and Rona Whitley and her husband, Freddy, all of Port Arthur, Texas, Judy Lucas and her husband, James, of Victoria, Texas and Emily Pierre of Loreauville; nine grandchildren, Jamie Lynn, Sharell, Rolanda, Ridge, Rollins, Remi, Terrelle, Noel and Camryn; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Bernadette Savoy Jones Sr.; grandparents, Isaac “Pop” and Matilda Jones, Sam Henri and Anita Savoy; one sister, Anita Louviere; stepson Kevin Randall Jones; adopted son, Mortimer Jones.

Pallbearers will be Harris Jones, Michael D. Burns, Taverence Jones, Rollins Jones, Gery Whitley and Ridge Babineaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Jones, Reasley Landry, Harold Lewis, Jeremy Mitchell, Burnett Rogers Jr., Earl Mason and Mitchell Mason.
