Please keep academics a priority and not unnecessary changes, like this to our school. This game has ALWAYS, traditionally been played on a Friday night, late in the season. Maybe there is a good reason for this change, maybe not - - but I feel that someone is not considering all of our alumni and alumna who are out of town that annually make this game. We want and welcome them to "Come Home" like CHS often promotes. A game on Thursday will not let that happen, considering college classes and work on Friday. Now I hear that the HC Dance is planned right after the game. WHY, again? These traditions do not need changing.
IF, it's not too late, let's ALL contact CHS and ask them to please change their decision and bring "Our 2008 Homecoming" back to the full week - later during the season. Thank You!

Shouldn't the seniors be exposed to as much christianity as possible before graduating and moving on to the college world? - By the way signing "On Board" reveals a strong possibly of who you really are!!! If a claim to CHS/MCA legacy is important to your family, it still exists, in name only.
Or if a "gifted" curriculum is what your children need/want, pony up the money and go to ESA or the gifted program in Lafayette Parish, which few families have opted for over the years.
It just depends what is most important, if these are truly the reasons for going to CHS. Just remember, ALL schools have the same problems... "

As a graduate of CHS, I see no problem with this being during a short week. Now, people traveling from far away can actually be there for both homecoming AND the Sugar Cane Festival. I live out of state and haven't enjoyed the fest in over 10 years. It's not possible to come down for that weekend, Homecoming, and again to see my family during the holidays. Think about other people too folks!
And how did this become a futile debate about schools? Chill out folks. "

How dare you say cut the cord! Maybe you come from where there are no traditions or pride in several generations attending the same school! Also at public school religion is not taught but in private school it is and that is important to a lot of families. There are some good public schools here but there are some bad public schools also. Maybe once you are not so new to the area you will realize this. "

You actually feel like the environment is safer. How blind you are! Maybe safer from a little bit of THE REAL WORLD and people they will HAVE to deal with as adults. You are definitely no safer from the drugs and promiscuity. Just ask any student who has gone to both public and private high schools. There are troubles in all areas. You are in denial if you think your child is any safer...maybe more sheltered, but no safer. I'm sick of this topic. "

If you don't want to sent your child to a private school, it's your choice but don't knock those who do. My child went to CHS and we are not wealthy. The difference between a private school and the public schools is that the private schools can demand that the trouble makers be removed from the school. The public schools have to keep them! I also felt that it was a safer environment for my child. "

Of course I was being sarcastic when I called it a "clean social circle". I know there's good and bad in all schools. Some just have more money to play with. I heard that the police were ready to raid a CHS after-party for the prom last Friday night. Kids all party, no matter where they come from.
