Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Lawrence “Choctaw” Romero, the former Bernice Delcambre, 82, at 2 p.m. Wed-nesday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a praying of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday from 8 a.m. until service time.

Mrs. Romero, who was lovingly known as “Ammaw” by her grandchildren, died peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2008, in Houston. She was an active member with the St. Francis Diner. She assisted many years with the annual Queen Sugar Program. She loved sewing and crocheting along with camping all across the country and sharing her cooking skills with her many grandchildren.

The family would like to take time to thank Brennan and Darren and staff at Colonial Oaks at Braeswood in Houston, Peggy Wick and the staff at A*Med Community Hospice of League City, Texas, and Skip Matthews and his staff at Nissi Resident Care of Houston, along with the various other ladies who assisted in her care at her home.

Survivors include two daughters Fay Adam of Houston and Molly Womack and her husband, Earl, of Carencro; grandchildren Meagan Bourque Dawkins and husband, Kenneth, and their children Mikayla, Garrett and Tiffany “T.J.,” all of Pearland, Texas, Scott Joel Hammon and wife, Amanda, Buchanan and newborn son Michael Donovan, also of Pearland, Texas, Marine Recruit G. William Hector II of San Diego, Natalie Womack Boutte and husband, Doug, and children Abbie and Aubrie of New Iberia, Troy Womack of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Geraldine Broussard Delcambre and her children Ellen Delcambre Wilson and husband, John, and their children Elizabeth and Wesley of Ponchatoula and Paul Delcambre and his wife, Arlene Meaux, of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence “Choctaw” Romero; parents, Bertrand Delcambre and Louisa Landry Delcambre of Poufett Road; and brother Larry Delcambre.

Pallbearers will be Scott Hammon, Troy Womack, Paul Delcambre, Kenneth Dawkins, Doug Boutte and John Wilson. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be marine recruit G. William Hector II.
