Restaurnat owner with dirty mouth !

Hello Forum : My wife and I were  stunned beyond belief a few nights ago. We entered  a fine  and very expensive New Iberia Restaurant (one with live entertainment and all) . After a while we noticed the owner/manager was very, very drunk sitting there talking real loud and running down local elected officials . He was  just awful  .He was saying which ones were running around on their wives and naming names and calling thier kids dikes and all that ugly talk. Workers around him were trying to make him shut up. He ruined the good names of many parish and city officials. It was just horrible. I see why families go to eat out in Lafayette now. Finally they got the poor drunk slanderer to go home with his friend(another drunk). Someone needs to open a fine dining place  downtown where we can all go out without being subjected to all that common filth.

" I have worked, for the owner of the restaurant so obviously being discussed here, for several years. I do agree that, at times, he can be a little loud and offensive. However, to be so harsh in criticism in such a public way, throwing these hurtful comments around about him on a public forum is in no way necessary. The proper way to handle any unsatisfaction with him/his place of business is to pick up the phone and discuss it with him confidentially, if you were so offended. Or, just avoid the place alltogether! "

" According to The Daily Iberian's very own rules for posting comments, almost none of these reader comments should have run at all. In fact, it's questionable if the original post should ever have run since it seems to be the poster's own problem with a private individual and that individual's private company (please refer to the rules at the bottom of this page). Beyond that, it's just idle gossip. So, I guess, I am confused: Why is The Daily Iberian allowing this vicious and hurtful attack? "

I do agree, when people are in public office, it is up to us to hold them accountable, but maybe instead of just insulting everyone you do not agree with you can be PROACTIVE and do something positive for yourself and New Iberia. I'm not being rude, just challenging you to be proactive. You seem to have many opinions, maybe if you turn those opinions/words into action, New Iberia will become a better place. Best of luck! "

Maybe it is due to rejection or jealousy. This person who was being loud and obnoxious would give anyone the shirt off their back and dumps thousands into community benefiting funds. Third, if you do not want to hear it, do not go to the restaurant/bar...it is free country to do and say what you please...remember YOUR first amendment? "

This person is always on the forum degrading someone and starting some mess. Brian do New Iberia and yourself a favor and get a life. Leave the politicians and people of New Iberia alone. YOU ARE WHAT's WRONG WITH THE WORLD! You disappoint me. I hope you just stop and look at life differently starting today. Peace be in your heart! "

Someone purchased the old Maison de Ville, calling it Vieux Maison de Ville now, and will be reopening it in July. It will be upscale, a very nice menu and the owners are very personable and fun. Take a drive to St. Martinville and check out the progress. I know many people from New Iberia who have dined there in the past. I don't think you will be disappointed in the new owners and the new restaurant. Hope to see you there!! "

Wake up people, it's not about you , me or a guy who chooses to speak his mind drunk or not. It's about our future. "

I've wondered aloud why this is so, and more than one person has suggested that "people in New Iberia like to go to other towns to eat." Well, maybe they go to other towns to eat because there aren't enough options in New Iberia. I don't know, but we could use more good restaurants in New Iberia, where one can go with an entire family. "

If for once you would actually watch your children in public, you would see your children misbehaving in restaraunts and movie theaters. No manners, no upbringing, no respect for others and no class. But it's hard to blame the children because they learn their bad manners from the bashers. "

I think he should go open a new fine dinning and a wine shop at the Scottish Inn he spends plenty of time there these days wonder what he's up to. Maybe a new chef or a new staff? GET A LIFE GUY "

When you are talking about skeletons in all "type" of closets... Are you referring to "in the closet or OUT of the closet"?
You are obviously missing the point. The cutting up is one thing. Talking very loudly about people by name whether it be public official or not, is not very professional for a "business person". Period! "

People in NI do seem to have a chip on their shoulder and spew at the drop of a hat, they would even drop the hat. That's not true of all native Iberians but will be the reputation as goes the nature of things. Especially business owners need to put a check on their business representatives/their salesman. "Shop Iberia" and be faced with rude, obnoxious salesman/women, waiters/waitress, even rude home customers. How rude. "

I have a very good idea of the resturant and I can concur with the owner on the status of the politics.

It is pretty simple, if you do not like the establishment go else where. Lafayette does have some very nice resturants: ex: Lafayette's, Copeland's, Prejean's, Ruth Chris' and The Blair House. "

Coming across a "little defensive" don't you think? I tend to agree with the writer. He (the owner) is entitled to his opinion, but I don't think everyone in the restuarant is there to listen to it!! If that is how you describe "colorful ambience" I would hate to think we may have had tourist being "entertained" by this "ambience".... Utterly amazing... And it is so obvious who we are talking about.. because this is not the first time I have heard of incidents like this. How embarrassing! "

Are you new to the area, are have you just never experienced the "colorful" ambiance while enjoying some dining and spirits on Main street? If it was your 1st time, just don't go there again. If you've been there before, sounds like a personal attack. Perhaps you have some latent issues of your own to address? Queen city of the Teche indeed. "
