All students of Iberia Parish — whether private, public or home-schooled — are invited to submit art, said Chérie L. Lord, chairwoman of the event.
There are four different age groups: 4-6, 7-9, 10-13 and 14-18. The first two age groups are judged on all artwork and are limited to one entry per student. The latter two age groups’ art work are divided into eight categories, and each student is limited to three entries total and one entry per category.

All first place, sweepstakes and junior achievement winners win cash prizes. Seconds, thirds and honorable mentions win ribbons.
Lord, who is an interior designer and has a background in art, said she enjoys being able to give this opportunity to Iberia Parish students.
“The talent that we have is absolutely amazing,” she said.
“I’m dumfounded sometimes at the beauty of their artwork.”
Lord has been involved with the event for the last three years and said after that amount of time, one begins to recognize certain names.
“It’s great to see how the students progress,” she said.
Judging will be the morning before the official opening of the show April 5. The show will be open to the public from noon to 8 p.m. April 5 and noon to 3 p.m. April 6.
Meg Mourain, historian for the club, said there will be a reception for students, families and instructors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 5.
She said students who do not attend a participating school or who have walk-in submissions are invited to bring their art between 3:30 and 6 p.m. April 3 to the Bayou Teche Trading Co. at 225 W. Main St.
