Irin J. Tauriac Sr.

Funeral services will be held for Irin Joseph Tauriac Sr., 76, Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. Ronald Broussard officiating. Entombment will follow in the St. Edward Catholic Church Mausoleum.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday from 7 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. with a rosary and ritual at 9:30 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Tauriac died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 9:40 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Tauriac was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church, a member of the Third Degree Knights, 2007 Grand Marshall for St. Edward Catholic Church Fair Parade, retired sugar cane farmer, former Parish Council member for the St. Edward Catholic Church and he also served as a board member for the St. Edward Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lucinda Guillory Tauriac; sons, Irin (Norma) Tauriac Jr. and Michael Tauriac Sr., both of New Iberia; daughters, Rose Tauriac, Ruby Tauriac, Lisa Tauriac and Tammy (Jules) Ford, all of New Iberia; sisters, Wilda Placide and Rita Mae Heiliman, both of New Iberia; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Special Acknowledgement to his special Farm “Brothers”, Mr. Ronald Gonsoulin of A&M Farms, Mr. Willis Provost and Mr, Wensaulus Provost.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred Tauriac and Gladys Clay Tauriac; one daughter, Mary Louise Tauriac and two granddaughters, Miranda Tauriac and Jennifer Tauriac

 Pallbearers will be The  Knights of Peter Claver Third Degree Council No. 63 and Prosper Bijou Assembly No.16 Fourth Degree Knights of Peter Claver.

Honorary pallbearers will be Irin Tauriac Jr., Michael Tauriac Sr., Jules Ford, Preston Ledet Jr., Michael Tauriac Jr., Brandon Compton Sr., Kirston Ledet Sr., Vance Ledet and Ethan Ford.

Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
