According to state police, Chansrymuong’s sport utility vehicle was traveling south on Louisiana 89 when it ran off the road to the right.

Chansrymuong then oversteered to the left, causing his SUV to travel across both lanes of the highway and into a ditch.

The SUV struck a ditch embankment, causing it to flip. Both men were ejected.

Chansrymuong was pinned under the SUV and had to be extricated by firefighters. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Soukaroua was taken to Dauterive Hospital.

State police said alcohol is suspected in the crash. Neither man was wearing a seat belt.

The crash was the ninth fatal crash of the year for Louisiana State Police Troop I. Nine people have died in those crashes.

I know one day in front of my house 3 cars in a matter of 10 minutes busted tires because of hitting a hole. I will not allow my teenager even walk on this road to go to a friends house which is in walking distance because they drive sooooo fast. Please people slow down on this road and if you travel this road, please call and complain cont... "

" Please people try to understand that Hwy 89 is a dangerous road to travel especially at night and when raining. The road is extremely bumpy, has lots of curves and it is definitely dark down there. Also, the young people these days just don't understand the danger of these roads and mixing alcohol. "
