Fire District Scandle

I would like for every citizen in Iberia Parish to stop and think about this. Civil Service law allows an employee to return to his previous job and rank if there is a position available. Now Mr. Mayon will be returning to the fire district as a captain after quitting his job with even giving a notice. Now for this to happen 2 firefighters would had to have action taken against them. The first was to Chris who was fired from the fire district. The reason for him needing to be fired is because there would be no Firefighters on the Captain's list in the event of an opening. Now Nick's only friend Kenny went out of his way to find reason's to fire Chris. The second firefighter who need action taken against them were Mike and he needed to be demoted from Captain. He was demoted from Captain with only 3 weeks left in his year of probation. Now there is a Captain's spot open with not Captain's list. So won’t you know who is going to work at the fire district as a Captain? Mr. Mayon. Now the problem with this is, during the tornado in Belair in 07 Mr. Mayon and his Father cornered Mike during a search of the neighbor and threatened to do bodily harm to this firefighter on Duty during an emergency. A police report was made of this incident. Why would the New Chief want someone like Mr. Mayon to come back and work for the fire district? The employees at the fire district are outraged knowing Mr. Mayon will be coming back to the fire district. I cannot believe the new Chief and Kenny would do what they did to 2 of the most dedicated firefighters the fire district has so Mr. Mayon could come back and work at the fire district.

Mr freyou, wake up before you are faced with a big decision. One by one volunteers will start walking out, when they have to start dealing with Mr. Mayon again. I hope mr freyou looks into the process of hiring of the Chief's position. I want everyone to know that the parish president cannot disicipline are fire the fire chief the way it is currently set up. He has no decision in the hiring of a fire chief.

I don't think so, they have to have probable cause to look into things. So maybe if you open your eyes and see the truth it will hit you like a sack of rocks. Why did an ADA till the fire board of commisioners they have serious problems that need to be addresed. May be just may be they are focused on conducting a proper investigation to ensure all crocks are caught at once and not left in the public system to futher ruin it. "

Chief Sonnier choose to come to a combination department so he should deal with the complaints are go back where he came from. "

If they would really sit back and take another look at the whole picture, they will realize and understand the roles of a Chief. Things have changed over the years. In todays fire service the Chiefs position is mainly administrative. He has officers in place to oversee the calls. If he so chooses to respond then fine, if not still fine. The comment was made that Chief Sonnier doesnt respond during the night..SO WHAT. Seems to me people do not like change. "

We see it on the news and in the paper.Did'nt the parish under the former parish president put pressure on chief bird to change his business practices about part time employment and vendors after that letter, also the author of the letter you are accusing NM of writing was never known. Bottom line is the DA needs to make the hard decision and procescute the one responsible for all the crimes they have committed! "

" It was a Grand Marias's member who led the charge with Sam Bird to have the board of commisioners changed and have Mike A and several other members removed from BOM.The truck purchase in Jeanertte was in fact illiegal thats why the AG's office handled it with the city attorney and the DA, since purchasing practices have changed in both agencies. Research what was just said and you will see the truth. It seems as several people have there own version of past events however they fail to seperate fact from fiction. "

Now the only difference between now and then is the chief, same people talking about BOM just different Mike's. So maybe the problem is with them and not Mike V. and BOM.
