Chester Hector

HOUSTON— Services were held for Chester Hector,86, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, 2007 at First Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Houston. Interment was followed in the Paradise Cemetery North in Houston.

Mr. Hector died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007 at 12:01 a.m.

Mr. Hector was born Nov. 28, 1921 in Olivier to the late Cornelious and Celia Robertson Hector.

He attended public school in New Iberia.

In Oct. 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army. He was a member of the 32nd Chemical Warefare Company in the ETO, WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

He moved to Houston in 1948. He attended the Texas State University for Negroes— now Texas Southern University where he recieved a technical certificate in auto mechanics and auto body repair in 1949.

On Jan. 15, 1950 he united in holy matrimony to Evelyn Ann Pradia and to this union two children were born. He was a member of the First Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church from the early 1950’s until God called home.

He is survived by his children, Chester M.(Debra) Hector and Angela (Curtis) Johnson; grandchildren, Dionne (Jonathan) Cockrell and Tonya (Kevin) Malbreaux; nieces; nephews; a very special friend, Gloria Mayo and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ann Hector; his parents; aunt, Agnes Robertson Youman and siblings, Neola Hector, Leona Hector, Jefferson Hector, Warris Hector, Cornelious Hector, Jr., August Hector, Isaac Hector and Agnes M. Hector.

Active pallbeaers were Melvert Hector, Jr., Reginald Hector, Vince Hector, Jeremy Molo, McClellan Molo, Jr. and Ronald Hector.

Honorary pallbearers were Chester M. Hector, Curtis Johnson, Eddie Hector, Warris C. Hector, Eric Christopher Molo, Melvert Hector, Sr., John Cockrell, Kevin Malbreaux, Eugene Brown, Felton Butler, Alvin Butler, Oswald Molo and Freddie Hector.
