Lafeyette tops NISH

LAFAYETTE - Taylor Abraham had 21 kills as Lafayette High handed New Iberia its first district loss of the year Thursday 25-11, 25-18, 21-25, 29-27.

Shalicia Rochon led NISH with 13 kills, 13 digs and a block for NISH, which fell to 17-5 overall and 2-1 in district. Lafayette is 3-0 in District I-2 after the first round.

Jennifer Trahan had nine kills, five digs, two blocks and an assist for New Iberia. Brittany Dugas had 31 assists, two kills and 14 digs; Paige Broussard added 40 digs and an ace; Rachel Vice finished with three kills and 22 digs; Geraldlyn Broussard added eight kills, an ace and an assist; Hannah Disch had an ace, a kill and 11 digs.

NISH plays host to district foe Carencro Tuesday.

Westgate 3, Carencro 0

CARENCRO - Megan Gaspard had 16 kills, 28 digs, two assists and three aces to lead Westgate to its first district win of the year, 25-22, 25-23, 25- 17 Thursday over Carencro.

Jenna LaPorte added nine kills, 29 assists, 10 digs, a block and an ace for WHS (8-1, 1-2 District I-2).

Lucinda Douglas had seven kills, an assist, three digs and two blocks; Katie Boudreaux finished with six digs; Tina Huynh had a kill, nine digs, a block and an ace; Kayla Watterson had five kills, two assists, 10 digs a block and three aces; and Shelly Hopes contributed a kill, an assist and seven digs.

Westgate plays host to Comeaux on Tuesday.

SMSH 3, Beau Chene 2

ST. MARTINVILLE - Hope Fontenette led St. Martinville to a five-game comeback win over District II-2 rival Beau Chene Thursday with eight kills, nine assists, a block and three digs. SMSH won 25-14, 22-25, 17-25, 25-12, 15-13.

Althea Lambert had a kill, eight assists, two digs and three aces for the Lady Tigers; Deandra Bonhomme added a kill, an assist and eight digs; Shontell Narcisse contributed four kills, a dig and two aces; Alexandra Roberts had three kills, three assists and 11 digs; Cassie Poche finished with five kills and two digs; Kayla Trahan had four kills and two blocks; Kelbie Celestine had a dig; Jessica Leon had two digs; Tracy Louis had six digs; and Mary Talley had an assist and two digs.

SMSH plays at Opelousas Tuesday.
