Wreck backs up traffic By Jeff Moore & Bill Smith / The Daily IberianLouisiana State Police were on the scene of a wreck around noon Wednesday on U.S. Route 90. State Police Trooper David Anderson said a Mazda Miata was traveling west on U.S. 90 near Captain Cade Road when the driver, William Clardy Jr., of New Iberia, fell asleep at the wheel. The car ran off the road, then swerved back onto the roadway, striking a westbound Chevy pickup. The impact caused the pickup to flip over in the travel lane. The driver of the truck, Joseph Gautreaux, of Ville Platte, suffered minor injuries. Clarty was not injured. Clarty, 46, was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on charges of careless operation, improper lane usage and driving under suspension. He was released on a $1,250 bond. |
