Rhythm Soul Dance Productions will hold a free "Jam Session" in New Iberia City Park on Saturday.

The group will perform its "Think Positive" show that teaches children and young adults the importance of being confident.

Terrance Morgan, a performer and choreographer with the group, said that the two-year-old production company has performed in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and throughout Louisiana delivering its anti-violence message.

Morgan said that the group is sponsored by the Acadiana Arts Council of Lafayette and Young Audiences of New Orleans.

"We started practicing and dancing in the City Park and some of our guys are from that area," said Morgan.

"We realized that we had started traveling outside of the state, but had never gone back to that area," he said.

The dance troupe will be accompanied by DJ Dokda J., DJ Prima and the Palehorse Skateboard Co.

Entertainment will begin at noon with a dance performance from noon to 1 p.m.

A free dance workshop for boys and girls ages 7 and older will be held from 2 to 5 p.m.

A Skate Demo with the Palehorse Skate Team also will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. with music by DJ Dokda J. and DJ Prima at Bayou Wheels Skatepark.

Admission to Bayou Wheels Skatepark will be free between noon and 6 p.m. Saturday with helmet and pad rentals at $1 each.
