LeBlanc to be honored as Living Legend

ERATH - A special ceremony will be held this weekend for a resident worthy enough to be deemed a "Living Legend."

The Acadian Museum of Erath will officially induct Erath resident Edward Joseph LeBlanc into the "Order of Living Legend" at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Museum Caf/. A Cajun music jam session also will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

LeBlanc was born in Erath in 1925 and is a U.S. Army veteran. LeBlanc was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Europe-Africa-Middle East Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantry Badge and the American Theater Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

After serving in the Army, LeBlanc worked in the oilfield industry and later took his knowledge of boat-building he learned from his father and helmed his own boat building business near Erath.

LeBlanc is married to Gloria Mae Champagne LeBlanc and is the father of three children and has seven grandchildren.

The Living Legend Series has been held for 11 years. One Saturday each month is designated to induct new Living Legends into the order. The public is invited to attend.
