Fourth of July fun continues in Erath

The Fourth of July holiday fun never stops in Erath. Or so it seems.

Erath residents and visitors are enjoying more than a week of activities saluting Independence Day. The events started June 23 and end Wednesday.

There were beauty pageants, barbecue cookoffs, a pie-baking contest, a children’s parade, street fairs, fais-do-dos, a water fight between Teche Area firefighters, a watermelon-eating contest, a hot dog-eating contest and a special Mass. One of the highlights was Saturday’s appearance by singer Irma Thomas.
