Franklin, Blue Stream win at tourney

The Franklin Legionnaires won two games in pool play and Blue Stream Services won its three games at the Lafayette Legion Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Games were played at Fabacher Field, Comeaux High and Acadiana High. The New Iberia Cajuns also played in the tournament. Results of those games will be published when received.

Franklin dropped its opener to Southland 7-0 on Friday but returned on Saturday to beat Ponchatoula in the morning and the Delhomme Drillers in the afternoon. Blue Stream (12-5) beat Delhomme 8-2 on Friday and claimed wins of 11-4 over Heymann and 3-2 over South Louisiana Bank (Houma) on Saturday.

With the two wins, Franklin improved to 5-4 on the year and will travel to New Iberia Monday to complete a game against the New Iberia Holiday Sporting Goods Cajuns that was suspended by rain in the third inning last week.

Southland 7, Franklin 0

In Franklin’s first game on Friday, Levi Moore gave up seven runs — only two earned — on six hits in four innings as Southland beat Franklin.

Ladd Hidalgo also pitched three innings and only allowed two hits.

Matt Hebert doubled and Moore had the only other hit for Franklin.

Franklin 6, Ponchatoula 4

D.J. Anslem had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs, and Christian Steiner had a hit and knocked in three RBIs as Franklin beat Ponchatoula Saturday morning.

Ladd Hidalgo had a hit, scored two runs and had an RBI while Joe Charpentier and Lucas Hidalgo each had a hit for the Legionnaires.

Charpentier went three innings and allowed two runs on six hits for the win while Derrek Collette threw four innings and gave up two runs on four hits.

Franklin 7, Delhomme 1

Joe Charpentier had three hits and scored three runs as Franklin slammed Acadiana-High based Delhomme Saturday afternoon.

Matt Hebert had two hits, including a double, and scored a run and Ladd Hidalgo had three RBIs for Franklin.

D.J. Anslem also had three hits, including a double, Anthony Louviere added two hits and Christian Steiner, Jake Concienne and Lucas Hidalgo each singled in the win.

Jesse Aucoin went four innings and allowed one run on four hits for the win. Anslem pitched three innings of three-hit relief for Franklin.

Blue Stream 8, Delhomme 2

Catholic High-based Blue Stream Services beat Delhomme Industries in its opener at Acadiana High behind a combined three-hitter from Kyle Hoffpauir and Hunter Crochet.

Hoffpauir (2-1) struck out five and walked nine, allowing two earned runs in six innings for the win. Crochet entered in the seventh with the bases loaded and no outs, giving up one hit and two walks.

Barrett Broussard took the loss in relief of starter Daniel Cloteaux. Broussard gave up seven runs on nine hits. Cloteaux gave up no runs and allowed two hits. Bryce Martel allowed one run on three hits in 12/3 innings.

Chase Richard went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for Blue Stream. Hoffpauir went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Matt Roy went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Ben Suit, Matt Geoffroy and Jason Mouton each had two hits. Roy, Suit and Geoffroy scored two runs each. Crochet also had a hit.

Ryan Shexnayder had a hit and an RBI for Delhomme.

Blue Stream 11, Heymann 4

Blue Stream scored four runs in the third inning and five in the sixth to blow away Comeaux-based Heymann at Comeaux High School on Saturday.

Patrick Neustrom went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs for Blue Stream. Richard and Shea Daly each had a double and scored twice; Hoffpauir had a hit, an RBI and scored a run; Jason Mouton had two hits; Suit had a base hit; and Jed Viator and Ridge Gonsoulin each singled and scored twice.

Daly (2-0) earned the win, allowing four runs on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts in a complete game effort.

Blue Stream 3, SLB 2

At Fabacher Field, Hoffpauir singled to center field to bring home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Viator led off with a single through shortstop and Gonsoulin’s bunt resulted in an error to put two runners on. Geoffroy’s sacrifice bunt advanced them to second and third and Richard was intentionally walked to load the bases with one out. Hoffpauir’s hit to deep center brought in the winning run.

Richard doubled and drove in a run, while Hoffpauir had a hit, an RBI and a run. Gonsoulin went 1-for-1 and Viator was 2-for-2 with a run.

Mouton (3-0) went the distance for the win, allowing two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Seth Lecompte took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits with four strikeouts and five walks.

For South Louisiana Bank, Josh Crowdus went 2-for-3, Lecompte had a hit and scored twice, Chad Wallis had two doubles and Phillip Lottinger and Shawn Lucas had singles.

Abbeville 7, Blue Stream 6

ABBEVILLE — Tony Frederick had two doubles and three RBIs as Gulf Coast Bank of Abbeville beat Catholic High-based Blue Stream Services Wednesday in Junior American Legion action.

It was Blue Stream’s first district loss of the year.

Jay Monceaux had two hits and Trey Derouen had a double and an RBI for Abbeville in the win.

Frederick went 52/3 innings and allowed six runs on eight hits for the win for Abbeville.

Neustrom gave up seven runs on seven hits in two innings to take the loss for Blue Stream. Mouton pitched two innings in relief.

Will Quinlan and Roy each had two hits for Blue Stream.
