ERATH — Even when you are gone, the good works you have done will be remembered, just as the Acadian Museum will demonstrate Saturday.

The museum will present “A Legend of Erath” at 4 p.m. at the Museum Caf/. The event will honor the work of the late Clement Bourgeois Jr.

A music jam session featuring Cajun music will also take place from 2 to 6 p.m.

According to the museum, the honor is bestowed upon those who help “shape and define” Cajun culture.

Bourgeois spent his life in Erath working as a postmaster and documenting the history of Erath, which also included documenting information and preserving old photographs.

According to the museum, he also demonstrated a love for learning, which was evident in his studies of language, mathematics and music.

The nomination for the honor of “Legend of Erath” for Bourgeois came from Curney Dronet Sr., who wrote “A Century of Acadian Culture: The Development of a Cajun Community: Erath (1899-1999).”

“Without Clement Bourgeois Jr.’s help I would not have been able to write the comprehensive history of Erath,” Dronet said. “His knowledge and support were immeasurable to me and my work. He will be missed by everyone in our community. I am proud to nominate him as a ‘Legend of Erath.’ ”

The public is invited to take part in the event free of charge.
